Working with colour professionally means that sometimes you need to convert between colour systems – which is why we are excited to announce an extended and improved NCS-to-RAL conversion feature in NCS+ on the web.
What is the update?
With this update, users can now access the closest RAL standard for more than 1,250 NCS colours, a significant expansion from the previous coverage of around 200 colours. Alongside this, we have refined the visual presentation: you can now view the NCS and RAL colour previews side by side, offering an immediate and clear comparison. Each match is also labelled as Perfect, Good or Weak to help guide your selections with even greater precision.
Please note: Only NCS colours with a RAL equivalent below 6 Delta E 2000 are displayed, ensuring that only meaningful, high-quality matches are shown.
Why is this important?
This improvement is particularly valuable for architects, interior designers and other professionals who depend on precise colour matching across different material standards. By providing reliable bridges between NCS and RAL Classic colours, NCS+ helps streamline design workflows, reduce inconsistencies and ensure that creative visions are accurately translated into finished projects. The result: faster decision-making, stronger project outcomes and greater confidence throughout the design process.
How can you access the new feature?
You will find the closest RAL conversion directly on the Colour Details page – just as before – with the enhanced visuals and match quality information now included.
For example, see it in action here: S 1085-Y90R Colour Details.
We invite you to explore, share and continue creating with colour, and are committed to making your colour design journey even more seamless and inspiring.
